The new National Football league year is going to start on Wednesday, March 15. This means more drama and more entertainment for fans and everyone in the league. Teams will be running behind top free agents to get them to sign with their franchises. They can also strike deals with impending free agents without the fear of being held accountable by NFL officials.
Super Bowl LVII MVP Patrick Mahomes knows exactly how interesting the next week is going to be and tweeted about the same. He wrote, “NFL is going to be wild this next week.” It is indeed going to be wild. Mahomes will be sitting home and watching the drama unfold in front of his eyes with buckets full of popcorn, which he added in his tweet.
The Kansas City Chiefs will also be involved in free agency and will try to fend off teams from their star players. There are a lot of wide receivers who are going to be free agents. JuJu Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman, and Justin Watson will be hitting the free agency and teams will definitely try to sign them, given they have just come off of a Super Bowl-winning season.

Patrick Mahomes lost one of his best wide receivers in Tyreek Hill last season, but head coach Andy Reid and the front office did a great job of signing free agents to help him in winning those games. Smith-Schuster was signed on a one-year deal and now, with his contract up, it’ll be interesting to see whether the Chiefs can retain him.
The Chiefs have to get more weapons for Mahomes because right now, the receiving core is lacking some serious fireworks. One of the most notable wide receivers in the market right now is Odell Beckham Jr. The former Rams wideout held a private workout in Arizona and invited teams for his workout. Kansas City will hugely benefit from having OBJ catch those wild one-handed catches from the best quarterback in the league.
This new league year will really bring some high-packed action with it given the number of elite players waiting for a team to sign them. Veteran signal-caller Jimmy Garoppolo is without a team, but reports have suggested that many clubs have already approached him with offers. A few days back, the Vikings released Adam Thielen, and he is also up for grabs.
If the Chiefs have the cap space, then they can acquire both Beckham and Thielen. While it’s highly unlikely that they sign them both but the preposition sounds so good. The team will try to negotiate with free agents to take a pay cut to have a chance at playing with Mahomes and winning a championship. There is no saying what is going to happen.
