Super Bowl LVII festivities started on Monday in Arizona with players and coaches answering questions and having a bit of fun going along. The Super Bowl Media Day was a fun event to watch as fans were able to hear the mindsets of head coaches, Nick Sirianni and Andy Reid. Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts, who made history by being the first African American quarterbacks to start a Super Bowl, were also present and fielded questions regarding their preparations for D-Day.
Preparing for Super Bowl is not a new concept for Patrick Mahomes, who will start in his third world championship game in five years. The 27-year-old has been a powerhouse for the Chiefs since he was drafted 10th overall by the franchise in the 2017 NFL draft. He has led them to five straight AFC Championship games, two back-to-back Super Bowls, and won one Lombardi Trophy.
There is no denying the fact that Mahomes can become the next greatest quarterback after Tom Brady and can dominate the league for years to come. During his short stint in the league, he already holds many NFL records, including the fastest to reach 10,000, 15,000, and 20,000 career passing yards. He also has his name written all over the Chiefs’ franchise records as well. And this is all he’s achieved in five years. Sends a chill down the spine just thinking about what he is going to do ahead in his career!

Defeating the Eagles will be a herculean task for Patrick Mahomes and Co.
During the Super Bowl Media Day, Patrick Mahomes spoke with the elder brother of Peyton and Eli Manning, Cooper Manning. The Texas native was mighty impressed by Cooper’s outfit, who donned a cowboy look, from the hat right down to the boots. While talking about his Texas background, their conversation shifted toward Cooper’s boots.
They were talking about the shoey celebration and filling those cowboy boots with beers and chugging it down. Right then, Mahomes promised a whacky celebration to Cooper if he won the Super Bowl. “Post Super Bowl, if you bring that thing there and we get the win, I’ll drink the beer out the boot with you,” the Chiefs signal-caller promised Manning. He also joked that Cooper should be wearing socks and the boots have to be clean if he does a Shoey during the trophy presentation.
Even though the Chiefs are, well, the Chiefs, it won’t be an easy task to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles, who were an absolute monster this season. They are an extremely physical and young team who have been addicted to winning during the regular season. They delivered back-to-back blowout wins in the playoffs against the Giants and the 49ers.
Mahomes is still recovering from the ankle injury he suffered during the divisional playoffs game. Then, in the AFC Championship, he ran during the final few seconds of the game, aggravating his injury. Mahomes has the habit of improvising and leaves the pocket more often than not. It will be a difficult job for the Chiefs’ O-line to keep the pass rushers away from him because the Eagles’ defense will not think twice to pancake him to the ground hard.
Let’s see if Mahomes does the Shoey celebration or will the Eagles soar high on the night of February 12 in Arizona!
