On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs led by their All-Pro quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a brutal loss against the Buffalo Bills in their week 14 matchup. Towards the end of the game, a controversial off-sides penalty negated a Chiefs touchdown, leading to Mahomes screaming at the refs and cussing while shaking hands with the Bills QB Josh Allen. And now, the All-Pro signal-caller has opened up about the heated incident.

During a recent episode of 610 Sports KC’s The Drive radio show, Mahomes and show host Carrington Harrison discussed the quarterback’s meltdown after the game. Mahomes said that he regrets the way he acted towards the Bills quarterback.

Can't be that way towards officials or really anybody in life, so I probably regret acting like that. But more than anything, I regret the way I acted towards Josh (Allen) after the game. Because he had nothing to do with it. I was still hot and emotional, but you can’t do that. It’s not a great example for kids watching the game.

The incident that led to Mahomes having a meltdown happened during the final seconds of the week 14 clash between the Chiefs and the Bills. With less than 90 seconds remaining in the game, the Chiefs scored a touchdown, which would’ve given them a 3-point lead.

However, the refs threw a flag and called an off-side penalty on Kansas City’s wide receiver Kadarius Toney, who lined up in the neutral zone. Eventually, the Chiefs went on to lose the game, leading to Mahomes losing his mind on the sidelines.

Following the SNF game which ended in a controversial play, Mahomes continued to have a meltdown and even cursed the officials, when he was shaking hands with Buffalo’s signal-caller Josh Allen. Mahomes showing poor sportsmanship led to the Chiefs QB receiving massive backlash on social media.

The Chiefs quarterback is now regretting his actions, but what’s done is done. Mahomes is now branded as a sore loser following his poor sportsmanship after refs threw a flag on his teammate.

Nonetheless, the Chiefs have now dropped two games in consecutive weeks. With that, the Chiefs dropped to an 8-5 record and are currently holding the No.3 seed in the AFC playoffs picture. Next, they are scheduled to go against the struggling New England Patriots in their week 15 matchup this weekend.
