The defending Super Bowl Champions Kansas City Chiefs faced the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday in their second preseason game. The Chiefs’ starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes surprisingly got solid playing minutes in the game. Mahomes had a good outing against the Cards but it was his one particular throw that caught the eye of the fans.
During the first quarter of the game, the Chiefs’ QB Mahomes took off on a QB scramble while being chased by 5 defenders. When everyone thought the play was over Mahomes made a ridiculous throw mid-air while being pushed by the Cardinals defensive lineman Jonathan Ledbetter. The pass hit the Chiefs receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling on his hands but he couldn’t complete that tough catch.
The Chiefs didn’t gain any yards from the play but Mahomes’ superhuman athleticism was on full display even at the preseason game. Many thought Mahomes wouldn’t even see the field during preseason but he took the field for the entire first quarter and gave his 100 percent on every play.
The reigning league MVP had a solid outing as he completed 10 of his 15 pass attempts for 105 yards and 1 touchdown. In fact, the entire Chiefs QB room had a feast on the Cardinals’ defense. The Chiefs’ new addition Blaine Gabbert went off against the Cards as he registered 120 passing yards and 2 touchdowns in the limited he got.
As a result, the Chiefs ended up belting the Arizona-based football team and won the game 38-10. The Chiefs rookie receiver Rashee Rice had a promising game as he caught 8 passes for 96 yards while averaging 12 yards per reception.

The Kansas City-based football team is now 1-1 on the 2023 preseason. They still have one game left in the preseason against the Cleveland Browns which is scheduled for next weekend.
Nonetheless, the Chiefs will start their 2023 regular season with a tough game against the Detroit Lions on September 7. The Chiefs will be looking to defend their crown and become back-to-back Super Bowl champions in the upcoming NFL season.
