Patrick Mahomes does not hold back on the pitch, nor does he in real life. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback was recently insulted by the Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase as the star wideout claimed the Bengals QB Joe Burrow is the best player in the league right now. His comments led to Mahomes clapping back at the pass catcher on social media.
On Wednesday, during the Bengals‘ mandatory training camp, the Pro Bowl wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was asked by the reporters who is currently the best player in the league. Chase had an answer ready for that question and didn’t mince his words.
“Joe Burrow,” Chase said. “Everybody knows that. That’s easy. MVP.” Furthermore, after the reporter told Chase that Burrow picked Patrick as the best player in the league, Chase replied, “Who said Pat? Pat who?”.
Ja’Marr Chase is obviously showing love to his teammate and best friend Joe Burrow, but his comments about Patrick Mahomes did not sit well with some people on social media.
And now, the 2-time league MVP seemingly responded to Chase’s Pat Who? question on social media. Mahomes posted a picture of him with his two Super Bowl rings on social media and captioned it “That’s Who” with two ring emojis.
The Chiefs QB seemingly reminded his resume to Chase and Burrow. Mahomes is a 2-time Super Bowl Champion, 2-time league MVP, and 2-time Super Bowl MVP. No other active QB in the league comes close to Mahomes’ achievements currently, except maybe Aaron Rodgers, who is way past his prime.
QB Joe Burrow is expected to sign a bigger contract than Patrick Mahomes
The Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow is entering the final year of his rookie deal and is currently negotiating his contract extension with the Bengals. Burrow hasn’t given much information about his contract talks, but he’s expected to sign a deal bigger than the Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes.
Back in 2020, Mahomes signed a 10-year deal with the Chiefs worth up to $450 million. Since then, QBs like Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts have signed a bigger contract than Mahomes in average annual salary.
In that trend, Joe Burrow is also estimated to sign a deal with an average annual salary of approximately $50 million which will be more than Mahomes’ $45 million.
The Bengals have picked the fifth-year option of their Pro Bowl QB. That move will give them some time to get a long-term deal done with the highly talented signal-caller. In the meantime, Burrow would be focused on leading the Cincinnati-based franchise to another deep postseason run in the upcoming season.
