On Sunday, February 11, Patrick Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs to their third Super Bowl title in his six years as a starter. He defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Following their win, the Chiefs announced they would hold a victory parade like in previous seasons. The venue was chosen to be Union Station at the heart of Kansas City, Missouri, scheduled to start at 11 a.m. One by one, Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Chris Jones, head coach Andy Reid, and several Chiefs players started arriving.

The parade started with players showcasing the Lombardi Trophy to the Chiefs fans, waiting from the morning to catch a glimpse. Among them was an individual who was wearing a Buffalo Bills jacket. Mahomes approached the man intending to give him a high five, but the Chiefs quarterback pulled his hand away.

It’s understandable; the Chiefs-Bills have been in a massive AFC rivalry since the 28-year-old joined the NFL. Often, his matchups with Bills QB Josh Allen are compared with Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.

Patrick Mahomes took a dig at a 49ers player at the parade

After pulling a fast one on a Bills fan, Mahomes and the cavalry arrived at Union Station. There was a stage set up for players to share their experiences with the fans.

The three-time Super Bowl MVP started his speech by saying,

Kansas City, let me hear you one time! Man, what a year. They all doubted us. I don’t want to hear anything different. But you know who came through in the end? That’s the Kansas City Chiefs. I just want to thank everybody here.

His wife, Brittany Mahomes, cut him mid-sentence, reminding him that he is “a regular quarterback.” It struck a chord with her husband, and he replied,

I’m a regular quarterback; it is what it is. I have to give a shoutout to that defense. It’s crazy; a defense can win the Super Bowl and still be underrated.

This was seemingly a dig at 49ers Tashaun Gipson Sr.‘s comments. A Red Tribe Cinema clip showed the safety saying at the Super Bowl,

That is just a regular f***ing quarterback.

To finish his speech, Mahomes promised that he would bring the trophy back to Kansas City in 2025. It received massive applause from the crowd.
