Patrick Mahomes rarely loses his cool, but following the Kansas City Chiefs 20-17 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night, the quarterback was seen riled up and yelling at the officials for a bad judgment call that allegedly cost them their ninth win of the season. Brittany Mahomes, the 28-year-old’s wife, backed him up.

During the last couple of minutes of the game, the referee called for an offensive offside call, which ended a brilliant move from the Chiefs. After taking the snap, Mahomes found Travis Kelce, who threw a brilliant lateral to Kadarius Toney. The young receiver walked home for a touchdown to give the Super Bowl winners the lead, or so they thought.

Their celebrations were cut short as a yellow flag was thrown onto the field. Toney was judged offside, ending the chances for the Chiefs to make a swift comeback. After the game, the camera picked up Mahomes screaming and shouting on the touchline, seemingly unhappy with the decision from the refs.

In the post-game press conference, Mahomes said,

To have a flag changes the outcome of the game. I've never had offensive offsides called. If it does, they warn you. There wasn't a warning the entire game. And then you make a call like that in the final minute? Another game; we're talking about the refs. It's not what we want for the NFL. It's not what we want for football.

While Mahomes was throwing a tantrum on the field, his wife, Brittany, shared her opinion of the result on social media. A short clip of an official with the word MVP hovering over him as if to imply they lost because of a bad call.

As soon as Brittany Mahomes posted her thoughts on the internet, social media pushed back. A section advised her to take the defeat and stop whining.

A stat-savvy commenter wrote, “Who’s going to tell her that her husband has gotten bailed out by the refs more than anyone in history?”

Patrick Mahomes was upset with the final ruling. He claimed that a beautiful play from Travis Kelce got chalked off.

It’s tough to swallow. Not only from me, but from football in general, to take away greatness like that, for a guy like Travis to make a play like that, you want to see the guys on the field decide the game. They’re human. They make mistakes. But every week, we’re talking about something.

The Kansas City Chiefs remain in the third spot (8-5) in the AFC play-off picture. Next, they will travel to Foxborough and face the New England Patriots.
