After playing four seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, Patrick Queen bid goodbye to the franchise. But that’s not what angered the fans. Queen joined AFC North rivals Pittsburgh Steelers from the free agency market.
When the Ravens and General Manager Eric DeCosta decided not to enter the fifth-year option of Queen’s rookie contract, he had no choice but to enter the free agency market this offseason. However, his decision to move to the Steelers caught everyone off-guard.
The linebacker received tons of hatred across social media, to the extent that he had to say ENOUGH! Queen also didn’t hold back from calling out his hatred over the Steelers move.
He wrote on X:
Honestly bruh y’all can stfu now. It’s not even that deep for us players until game week and y’all can’t understand the fact it wasn’t up to me. I gave y’all everything I had [and] now when it’s time for me to do what I need [to do] y’all hurt about everything I say. Go touch some grass and fill the void in y’all life. To [the] ones still showing love even with the switch this not to y’all.Patrick Queen wrote on X
The reason why fans blasted the former Ravens linebacker was because of his attitude after signing with the Steelers, on Wednesday. When asked how it feels to now have become a rival to the Ravens– the team who drafted him as the 28th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Queen replied saying:
It's going to be weird, you know, I wanna be that villain.Patrick Queen told the reporters
Patrick Queen acknowledged Roquan Smith’s role in his NFL journey
In his press conference after signing with the Steelers, Queen also talked about his journey in the NFL and gave credit for his stellar performances to teammate Roquan Smith. He helped Queen work on his flaws and improve his performance on the football field.
Queen didn’t meet Smith until the 2023 season after he was traded from the Chicago Bears in exchange for the 2023 NFL Draft’s second and fifth-round picks along with A.J. Klein. Smith also earned a First Team All-Pro selection in his very first season with the Ravens.

Both the linebackers grew close to each other and built a good bond of friendship. Smith also acted as a mentor to Queen, who now would be competing against him next season.
