New England Patriots went against their AFC East division rival Miami Dolphins in a must-win game, which saw yet another bizarre incident involving the Pats that could’ve cost the game for them.

NFL officiating has been awful throughout the season as their consistently inconsistent calls have left fans confused multiple times this season. New England fans are on the receiving end of those inconsistent calls for the second straight week. Just last week, the refs missed ruling forward progress on the last-minute play, which caused a fumble and cost the Patriots their game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

A similar incident happened once again in the Patriots-Dolphins game in week 17, but this time the officials blew their whistles a little too soon. During the opening drive of the game, Dolphins’ backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater handed the ball to the RB Raheem Mostert, who tried to explode by missing one tackle but was met by a second New England defender who caused a fumble.

The Patriots recovered the ball, but the NFL officials ruled that the running back’s forward progress was stopped before he lost the ball. Hence, the Dolphins got the ball back and their drive continued. The Miami-based team didn’t score on that drive, but the inconsistency in the calls by the officials left the New England fans fuming.

The Patriots fans made sure to remind everyone that they could’ve pulled a comeback victory against Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals last week if the officials acted the same way and ruled forward progress in the last-minute fumble by the Pats RB Rhamondore Stevenson.

The Patriots also got one of the worst calls this season against the Raiders in week 15, which lead to the dumbest play in NFL history. The officials gave a touchdown to Keelan Cole, who was clearly out of bounds while catching the ball.

As for the Patriots, they are still alive in the AFC playoffs picture after securing a victory over Miami Dolphins but they have a tough game ahead of them as they are preparing to face Buffalo Bills in the final week of the NFL regular season.
