After spending 24 years of his career with the New England Patriots, head coach Bill Belichick‘s future with the franchise remained doubtful after a 3-11 standing this season. When asked to confirm, the head coach directed the owner, Robert Kraft.

With Belichick, the Patriots won all six Super Bowl titles. However, as the legendary Tom Brady parted ways, the Patriots’ demolishing phase began. This season, the team has logged just three wins and ten losses before week 15. Considering the stats, it seemed it was finally time for the Patriots to bid farewell to their longest-serving head coach, Belichick.

Moreover, the poor loss of 27-17 against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday couldn’t do much justice to Belichick’s future with the Patriots. For all that matters, it made the news more evident.

During an appearance on WEEI on Monday, head coach Belichick was asked whether or not he’d be staying with the team next season. It turns out he didn’t have much to say except direct the speculating questions on his departure to Patriots owner Robert Kraft.

He highlighted how he has openly discussed his uncertain future with the franchise with the whole team. But in the end, it’s all in Kraft’s hands to make the final decision.

I think any questions you have for Mr. Kraft, you should ask Mr. Kraft… I mean, I don’t know. I don’t sit around and listen to talk radio and read stuff every day, so. I’m going to do what I do and prepare the team to get ready for Denver.

Until the decision comes, head coach Belichick doesn’t seem to dig up the past or the future with the Patriots. His focus for now is preparing for his team’s next matchup against the Denver Broncos on Christmas Eve.

Bill Belichick’s uncertain future with the Patriots

All signs and news speculate head coach Belichick’s possible departure from the Patriots after a legacy of 24 years. Except for the last four years, Belichick has established New England as the strongest NFL team with the highest number of Super Bowl trophies.

As for the future, it’s for sure owner Kraft wouldn’t fire Belichick at this moment, which means he would continue coaching the team for the next few remaining weeks of this regular season.

Although it’s out in the air that the Patriots are planning to remove Belichick from the head coach’s position, they haven’t come up with any concrete decisions, as reported by the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

He also reported that the franchise isn’t rushing to make any decisions, as they are giving Belichick time and consideration for all options. But there’s a likely chance that if the Patriots suffered a humiliating loss like the Los Angeles Chargers against the Las Vegas Raiders by 63-21, then New England’s owner might move on from his decision sooner rather than later.
