The New England Patriots lost their week 10 game against the Indianapolis Colts. That defeat saw them slip to 2-8 for the season. It was an ugly game as the Patriots failed to score a touchdown and the Colts won the game 10-6. Patriots’ QB Mac Jones had a rough game as he finished with 170 yards and one interception. Their offense could only manage a couple of field goals.
Jones has struggled so far this season. Through 10 games, he has thrown for 2,031 yards and 10 touchdowns. He has also thrown 10 interceptions and has a rating of 80.2. During the game against the Colts, the Patriots’ offensive coordinator, Bill O’Brien was seen furiously yelling at Jones. The third-year signal caller was struggling to get the offense going and the team’s OC let him know about it.
In a video circulating on Twitter, O’Brien can be seen ripping Jones apart for his poor play. The video was captioned:
Oh boy.. Bill O'Brien is TEARING into Mac Jones on the sidelines right now.
The score read 7-3 in favor of the Colts in the middle of the third quarter. The Colts held on to that lead, but just barely as they won the game by only four points. Jones was benched late in the fourth quarter, but backup QB Bailey Zappe failed to lead the Patriots to victory.
The Patriots have struggled to put up points throughout the season. Jones has had some poor games and has often been criticized for his susceptible play. They will play their next game against the New York Giants and will look to break their three-game losing streak.
Mac Jones gets benched for Bailey Zappe in the Patriots’ week 10 loss to the Colts
In an ugly 10-6 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, the New England Patriots benched their starting QB Mac Jones late in the fourth quarter. Backup QB Bailey Zappe replaced him but threw it away with an interception. Jones talked about his play after the game.
Jones said:
I've played well in my career before, but not right now. It's peaks and valleys. I'm kind of in a valley right now. I just have to bounce back. It was a terrible throw. Hit it in practice, just not a good throw. I knew where to go, just didn't do it right. There were some things I was working through, but it doesn't matter. No excuses.
Jones so far this season has thrown the same number of interceptions as touchdowns. He has a passer rating of 80.2 and has been benched a couple of times before Sunday’s game. The Patriots will play the New York Giants in their next game on Sunday.
