The New England Patriots are all set to trade their quarterback, Mac Jones. After a poor campaign last season, the team is fielding calls from the other teams interested in the prospective trade.

As per reports by NFL insider Ian Rapport, the team is not interested in the quarterback anymore. They are trying to move on from him and are hoping to get something valuable in return. Rapoport reported that multiple teams have been calling the Patriots about the availability of Jones. The Patriots are considering every option as they contin to move forward under new leadership.

Mac Jones was drafted by the Patriots in 2021. He had a tremendous rookie season as he registered 3,802 passing yards, 22 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. After his rookie year, the former Alabama quarterback was expecting to be the next big thing under the guidance of the veteran head coach Bill Belichick.

But that did not happen. Instead, the quarterback presented two disastrous seasons with the team. His last season frustrated even many Patriots fans, who had supported him before. Jones had just 2,120 passing yards with 10 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He was benched halfway through the season and Belichick opted for his second option.

The Patriots had a poor season last year with just 4 wins and 13 losses. It was their worst record in more than two decades. The team never finished a season with less than seven wins since the year 2000. Following the poor performance, the team has already parted ways with their head coach Bill Belichick and appointed Jerod Mayo as the new head coach.

Under his coaching, the Patriots are looking to get back on the winning ways again. Mayo’s priority will be securing a good quarterback first. In his first press conference, the HC hinted at hiring a good quarterback. Though he did not disclose any details but assured that the team would spot the best option.

After taking over, coach Jerod Mayo did not close the option of Jones coming back to the Patriots. He revealed that he was open to giving a chance to Jones to uplift his career. However, that option seems non-existent now as the team is willing to sell Jones.

With the Patriots eying for a possible trade, there are a few teams that can be considered by Jones as potential landing spots. The likes of the Atlanta Falcons and the Denver Broncos are in search of a regular quarterback. They can opt for Jones.

In addition, some teams are looking for backups also. The quarterback can land in those teams as well. Mac Jones’ trade will be one of the most interesting things in this offseason. It is to be seen where he lands in the coming time.
