Malik Cunningham can become one of the most versatile options for the New England Patriots this season. The rookie, in a recent interview, revealed that he does not have a certain position, and he is ready to take up any role that will be offered to him.
Since his inception in the league, the player has played in multiple positions, like quarterback (QB)/wide receiver (WR) and returner. He has even played as a gunner.
“I’m a football player. Whatever they need me to do, I’m going to do it. I feel like I did good over those three games. I need to work on as a quarterback or receiver, wherever they put me at,” he added.
“A lot to learn from, a lot to take on the chin, a lot of things I did good, a lot more things I need to work on as a quarterback or receiver, wherever they put me at. It’s a blessing just to be here. I just want to thank God again for the glory and blessing me with these abilities, and we’ll see where things go from here,” he added.
The New England Patriots have traded Cunningham as a free agent. Prior to the Patriots, he was associated with the Louisville Cardinals, where he played as a quarterback. He also showcased his skillset in the pre-season games. His break-neck speed went viral on social media and he was subjected to a lot of praise by the netizens.
During the pre-season, the analysts noticed his jack-of-all-trade role. He played in two different positions for the Patriots. He was lined up both as a wide receiver and a quarterback. In the coming time, he could become a player like Taysom Hill.
Malik Cunningham’s performance in the pre-season

The 24-year-old rookie performed pretty well in the pre-season matches. He was lined up as a wide receiver on 72 snaps and a quarterback on 22 snaps. He went 3-for-6 as a passer for 19 yards and covered 38 yards on seven offensive touches. He gained 21 yards on the kickoff turn.
Throughout the pre-season campaign, the player was spotted throwing and catching passes and running with the ball. However, he failed to prevent his team from losing against the Tennessee Titans by 23-7.
The New England Patriots will start their NFL season on 10 September 2023 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
