The New England Patriots are all set to enter into the post-Belichick era. The team is also in search of a new quarterback and amid that; they secured a deal with the wide receiver Kendrick Bourne.

The WR received a contract worth $33 million, with $4.42 million as a signing bonus. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, this deal stands for three years. The deal reflected the desperation of the Patriots to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Bourne started his NFL career in 2017 with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent. He played four years as the Niners wide receiver. After that, the WR signed a contract with the New England Patriots in 2017, where he played three years before his contract expired.

The six-foot-one-inch wide receiver has had some great stats for two teams. In his seven years, he has played 99 regular games and garnered 264 receptions for 3,409 yards with 21 touchdowns. His last season was also impactful even with only eight starts despite his team’s failure to get success. He registered 37 receptions for 406 yards and four touchdowns before he was subjected to a torn ACL injury.

The wide receiver is presently recovering from his torn Achilles injury. In the next season, the team and the fans are expecting him to provide his best. The new contract will certainly boost his morale.

The Patriots under the new head coach Jerod Mayo are desperate to turn the tables in the coming season. The Patriots were horrible in their last outing. They managed to win only four games out of 17 and it was their worst since the year 2000. Following that, the departure of the head coach Bill Belichick came to light, and they traded quarterback Mac Jones as well.

Kendrick Bourne got his wish of returning to the Patriots

Last month, Bourne expressed his gratitude to the New England Patriots for the impact the team had on his career. He said his career flourished as a player in the Patriots. In a conversation with ESPN, Bourne said that he wanted to return to the Patriots as the team is like his home.

I want to come back home. That is a goal of mine. I love being a Patriot — it’s a great environment for a person like me. Being a Patriot helped me grow into the player I am today, I’m thankful for the organizationThese last two years were rebuilding, so I don’t want to miss the time when you may be coming back, the good wave. It was rough but you never know where it could go. I feel like something good is coming in that building and I want to be part of it.
