“Stacking WR3s like Funko Pops” – Patriots signing ex-Vikings WR KJ Osborn doesn’t sit well with fans on social media

The New England Patriots are all set to embark on a new journey with their head coach, Jerod Mayo. After the Bill Belichick era came to an end, the team is trying to remove all the obstacles that they went through in the last few seasons. In an attempt to do that, the team managed to sign K.J. Osborn.
The drafting of KJ Osborn was aimed at providing good options for their new-coming quarterback in the coming time. Osborn was earlier with the Minnesota Vikings. He was drafted in 2020 right after the team signed their wide receiver, Justin Jefferson. In the Vikings’ colors, the WRs registered 158 receptions for 1,845 yards and 15 touchdowns in three years.
The last season of the WR was not great. He had only 48 receptions for 540 yards and just three touchdowns. Following the performance, the team did not extend his contract further, and he hit the free agency. Following that, the Patriots decided to draft him on the team.
Osborn was not the starting WR for the Vikings. He had never played as a starting or a first-choice wide receiver on the team. It is to be seen how he performs in a new setup and under the new guidance of a new coach. The Patriots will have a mammoth amount of expectation, and Mayo has to see through that.
The signing of KJ Osborn was met with poor reception from football fans
On social media, fans blasted the new signing of the New England Patriots. They failed to comprehend the team signing a third-choice wide receiver.
Over the years, the Patriots’ attack has failed miserably. Last season, it reached the extreme lowest of the low. The Patriots had their worst season since 2000 and the offense was held responsible for that. In the new season, coach Jerod Mayo will have the opportunity to change the scenario.
Following the poor performance and not-so-great signings, the fans did not hold their agony this time. Post Osborn’s signing they criticized the New England team on X. Check out some of the comments that they made.
Osborn will have a major task to prove his criticism wrong in the next season. It is to be seen how he performs now out of shadow of Jefferson.
