The Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George was joined by the NFL players TE Travis Kelce and center Jason Kelce in the recent episode of Podcast P with Paul George. 3 of them talked about NBA players transitioning to the NFL and vice versa but the Clippers forward had a controversial take on that topic.
During a recent episode of his show, Paul George boldly claimed that NBA players would have no problem transitioning to the NFL and dominating the sport but the same can’t be said about NFL players transitioning to the NBA.
“I don’t think a football player could cross over to the NBA,” George said. “Our game is completely skilled. For me, I think for NFL guys to be able to play in the league, they gotta be a hell of a shooter, right? Otherwise, we’re not gonna guard you. That athleticism, that strength, that means nothing if you can’t shoot the ball in our league.”
The 6’10” forward believes that there’s no chance an NFL player can play at the NBA level. “There are tight ends (who) have made great transitions, whether it’s basketball to football or football to basketball. I’m not saying that guys can’t play at a high level, but I think as far as playing in the NBA, I don’t think there’s a chance,” said George in his podcast.
Paul George believes LeBron James would be unstoppable in the NFL
The LA Clippers star Paul George went on to claim that the star NBA athletes like the Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James and the Clippers point guard Russell Westbrook would be unstoppable in the NFL.
“Imagine if Bron was in the NFL. Who the f**k is stopping Bron? Imagine Russ (Westbrook). Russ is 6-3, 6-4, built. Fast as s**t. Russ could play safety. I think guys in the NBA could make that transition. I think I could’ve played wide receiver,” said George.
Like many athletes in the United States, LeBron James also used to be a multi-sport athlete during his high school days. James used to play as a wide receiver in his high school team and once claimed that he would’ve become an NFL wide receiver if he didn’t end up playing in the NBA.
As for the Clippers’ star forward Paul George’s claim, it is a very subjective statement. Despite their tremendous athleticism, football, and basketball are entirely different sports and people would certainly have a lot of trouble while transitioning from one to another.
