On Thursday night, the Virginia Cavaliers suffered a big loss against the No.11 ranked Louisville Cardinals in a close college football game. Additionally, the University of Virginia suffered another big blow as their running back Perris Jones suffered a scary injury in the game and had to be taken to the hospital.

During the 3rd quarter of the game, the UVA running back Perris Jones caught a 7-yard pass from his quarterback Anthony Colandrea and was trying to gain more yards. But the running back fumbled the ball after receiving a hard hit on his helmet from Louisville defensive back Cam’Ron Kelly.

The fumbled ball was scooped up by Malik Washington, who took it all the way to the house for a Louisville touchdown. However, the Cardinals’ celebrations were short-lived as it was clear that the UVA RB Jones needed medical attention because of the hit. The trainers and medical personnel were on the field attending to the running back as the entire stadium went silent.

Jones’ Virginia teammates stood around by the running as he was receiving medical attention. After a huge delay in the game, Jones was eventually carted off the field and was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital for further treatment. The players, coaches, and staff looked stunned when Jones was being loaded onto the cart.

The ESPN broadcast said that Perris Jones showed no signs of movement when he was being carted off the field. However, after the game, the University of Virginia gave a positive update about his player.

Following the game, initially, Virginia coach Tony Elliott told the media that he was getting encouraging news from the hospital. Later, the University of Virginia released a statement regarding Perris Jones’ injury.

UVA RB Perris Jones has regained movement in all of his extremities after being injured during Thursday’s Louisville game.

The school also said that Jones will remain in the hospital on Thursday night. At the post-game press conference, Virginia HC Tony Elliott mentioned that Jones was getting an MRI scan at the hospital. The coach also mentioned Perris Jones as a tough young man, who lays it all on the line every time he steps into the field.

The scary injury has shaken the college football fans and everyone is just praying for Jones’ quick recovery. On the sporting side of things, Jones finished the game with 3 carries for 7 yards in addition to his 2 catches for 23 yards.
