Pete Carroll might be 71 years old, but man can he still throw a ball. The Seattle Seahawks head coach rolled back the years during their training session on Thursday. His regular quarterbacks were practising drills elsewhere on the ground, and his receivers needed some practice. Up steps the replacement, Pete Carroll himself. Who says an executive president can’t get down and dirty?
That’s exactly what he did, as shared on the official X account (previously Twitter). He was recorded throwing some impressive one-handers to his running backs and tight ends. They even cheekily captioned it, “QB Pete coming soon on Netflix.” Well, considering several names such as Justin Fields, Tua Tagovailoa, Trevor Lawrence, and Matthew Stafford have all said no to the ‘Quarterback’ casting coach, Carroll will be revolutionary.
If the higher-ups at Netflix HQ came across the new-look Seahawks play caller, then they would have surely cast him alongside Bengals Joe Burrow. Not to mention, they might even get the leverage of bringing on Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith. Smith would be an ideal candidate for the future. A stark contrast to Patrick Mahomes, who appeared in the first season of the show. There haven’t been any spills about whether the veteran quarterback was approached for a role in the second season.
Pete Carroll’s next secret weapon Riq Woolen

If Pete Carroll can keep at it for a few more years, then he may well turn another defensive back into a Pro Bowl-caliber football player. He has already established names such as Kam Chancellor and Richard Sherman. Keeping the tradition going, he may have another gem on his hands in the form of Tariq ‘Riq’ Woolen. The second-year DE burst onto the scene last year, leading the league with six interceptions as a rookie. He played so well that few envisioned him as the NFL defensive rookie of the year ahead of Sauce Gardner.
Woolen himself is eager to prove Carroll’s faith in him, who revealed he hasn’t coached anybody like him. He has set a goal of becoming the best cornerback in the NFL.
“I just want to prove to myself that I’m the best cornerback in the NFL,” he told the Seattle Times. “However, to achieve such a lofty goal, the 24-year-old needs to keep himself healthy. He took a giant step recently after the doctors removed his name from the PUP list (Physically Unable to Perform) on Sunday.
Riq Woolen has yet to take part in walk-throughs, but on Monday he went through some rigorous on-field workouts. Then he watched his teammates practice with pads from the sidelines.
