Aaron Rodgers has been criticized for his stance against getting the COVID-19 vaccine, in the midst of the pandemic, when the virus was taking lives and rendering millions sick, Aaron stuck by his stance and violated the NFL’s vaccine mandate as he did not wish to induce something into his body which was not thoroughly researched.
Professor Peter Hotez, a reputed scientist and advocate on the subject of global health and vaccinology had appeared on an iteration of the Joe Rogan Podcast while the pandemic was in full effect, he took this opportunity to spread awareness regarding the vaccine and urged people to take it as it was the best shot to protect oneself from the deadly virus.
Aaron Rodgers, however, was not a fan of his take. The quarterback for the New York Jets shared a reel on his Instagram story, the reel featured Professor Hotez speaking on the benefits of taking the vaccine. Aaron took offense to this and captioned the story, “robertfkennedyjr would mop this bum.” To offer some context, Rodgers has been vocal about supporting Robert F Kennedy in the run-up to his 2024 Presidential campaign.

Aaron Rodgers continues to stand by his anti-vaccine stance
Kennedy and Aaron share a lot of similar views, the President hopeful had also appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast and he vehemently opposed the claims that Professor Hotez had made in favor of getting the vaccine. Professor Hotez responded to Aaron’s statements calling him out with this tweet, “Disappointed he took a cheap shot vs me this week. In 2021 during our awful delta wave we were losing 2,000 Americans/day, >80% among unvaccinated, when vaccines were 90% protective vs death/serious illness, I criticized him for his public antivaccine stance.”
Joe Rogan had offered Professor Hotez and Robert F Kennedy Jr. the opportunity to sit across the table and debate one another without any set time limit. The latter accepted the invitation, while Professor Hotez politely declined. Rogan, in an attempt to entice Hotez, promised to donate $100,000 to a charity of his choice if he were to accept this proposal but that did not work either.
Rodgers has not kept it a secret that he does not trust the vaccine. He created quite a controversy when the NFL mandated all team players and staff to get vaccinated if they wanted to play. Aaron, who was on the Packers at the time came out and told the media that he was “immunized”, which mislead and confused many. It was later found that he never took the vaccine in the first place.
