Peyton Hillis is a retired American football player who played in the NFL from 2008 to 2014. Hillis played as a running back and fullback for various NFL teams during his career, including the Denver Broncos, Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, and New York Giants.

While Hillis had some success in the NFL, injuries and inconsistent performance limited his playing time and ultimately led to his retirement in 2015. Recently, the retired RB suffered a brutal swimming accident which led to him being hospitalized.

Hillis first saved his two children from drowning and was later airlifted to the nearest hospital after suffering significant kidney and lung damage. The 37-year-old risked his life to save his children along with his sister Hayley Davis, who also jumped in the water after him.

The incident occurred at Pensacola Beach, Florida, where the family had gone to spend the day. Hillis was thoroughly grateful after being saved through a successful airlift, as there were instances where they weren’t responsive to that location.

Post the incident, Hillis penned down an emotional note on social media and mentioned that he is expected to make a full recovery in the coming days. The former Broncos RB gave thanks to everyone who prayed for him in his letter.

“I just wanted to come on here and thank everyone for all the prayers and love y’all have given me,” Peyton Hillis stated. “It’s really made all the difference. I also want to thank my brave sister, mother, sister in law, my kids, and my girlfriend who has saved my life in more ways than one.”

Hillis was truly grateful to be alive according to his social media letter and thanked everyone who played a part in his recovery. The former Giants’ RB was grateful to the hospital and their caring staff for helping him recover at such a quick pace.

Peyton Hillis also pointed out that this was a traumatic event for the whole family, which is why they won’t be taking any interviews. The former NFL RB doesn’t want his family to be in the public eye.

“Thank you to the amazing staff at the hospital. Baptist hospital in Pensacola. Y’all were truly amazing and took such great care of me. You made all the difference on my recovery,” Peyton Hillis’s letter read. “I haven’t taken any interviews on this because I’d like to keep my family out of the public eye because it was a very traumatic time for us.”

Hillis is currently trying his luck in acting and was also featured in a movie. The former Giants RB will make a 100% recovery in the coming days.
