Jalen Hurts is here to stay for a long time. He has officially become the franchise quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles after signing a well-deserved multi-million dollar contract that makes him the highest-paid player in NFL history. Well, fans saw this one coming after the remarkable performance put up by the QB this past season so it is not entirely surprising.

Tom Pelissero broke out the news regarding Jalen Hurts’ new extension with the Philadelphia Eagles. As per the source, Hurts stands to make an estimated $179.304 million in GUARANTEED money. This is not all, there are bonus clauses in the contract that bump up the contractual value. Jalen Hurts stands to earn $15 million in the form of incentives, which makes the contract’s total value an estimated $274.304 million through the 2028 NFL season. The contract includes the paycheck worth $4.304 Million that Hurts is owed by the team for the final year of his rookie deal.

Philly’s decision to extend hurts shows the team’s confidence in his abilities to lead them to win seasons continually. The extension also enables the team to amend and work on the contract negotiations for other players on the squad. This move is beneficial for their cap space.

What is remarkable about this deal is that it is not just the quarterback who is making history by signing it. Still, his agent, Nicole Lynn, has also made history, as this extension happens to be the largest one ever negotiated by a female agent. Hurts is winning, and so are the people around him!

While an argument can be made that Hurts getting a massive extension of this caliber could be a premature move on the part of the Eagles, considering he has had just one great season, he is definitely worth taking a risk on. It is not just the tangibles one takes into account with him, and Hurts brings a lot of intangibles along with him, which makes him a respected leader and teammate. His teammates are willing to go out there and give it their best because they see their QB doing the same.

This year, he had a great season, completing 66.5% of his passes for 22 TDs and six interceptions. He ran the ball for 760 yards and had 13 trips to the red zone. Jalen Hurts’ extension guarantees him $179.304 million, which is the second-highest in league history behind Deshaun Watson’s $230 million fully-guaranteed contract he signed with the Cleveland Browns last year. Meanwhile, Jalen Hurts’ parents are Averion and Pamela Hurts.
