The New York Jets have managed to stay afloat this season despite losing Aaron Rodgers in the first game of the season. The team has won 4 games and lost 3 so far and last night, they beat city rivals- New York Giants. The game was a close one and ultimately went into overtime, however; the Jets had the last laugh in a game that witnessed 24 combined punts making it the most in an NFL game since 1998.

One of the highlights of the game was Quincy Williams’ amazing hit on Giants RB Saquon Barkley. In the final moments of the first quarter, the Giants on a 3rd down play attempted to run the ball through their trusted workhorse, Saquon in order to record a first down as realistically, that was the team’s best bet to avoid a 4th down situation.

However, Quincy Williams had no intention of letting the Giants get the first down. As soon as Saquon Barkley got the ball in his hands, Williams was right next to him and hit him hard bringing him down and sending the Giants into a 4th down situation. The linebacker immediately began celebrating with his teammates and shortly after mocked Saquon Barkley by jumping up and down right in front of him as the running back had just gotten back up.

Williams got really lucky on this as the officiating crew either missed out on this or for the first time decided to let this act slide. Most referees would have thrown a flag on Williams for taunting if they had seen him do this to Barkley after a play but luck was on the linebacker’s side last night.

Williams is having himself an All-Pro year as he has managed 55 solo tackles, 2 sacks, and 1 forced fumble through 8 games this season. He is well on pace to break his last season’s record of 74 solo tackles. The team has been consistent defensively this season and has forced their opponents to earn every single yard. The New York Jets will face off against the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football next week at MetLife Stadium.
