Today, sports is no longer about who the most talented and skilled player is. While these are essentials, there is one more factor that has begun to matter more than the aforementioned qualities, and that is fame. The proof of that lies in the media availability ahead of the Sugar Bowl college football game between the Washington Huskies and the Texas Longhorns.
With Quinn Ewers being the undisputed starting QB for the Longhorns, he should logically be the athlete whom the media ought to question regarding the team’s game plan and his mentality heading into the game. However, the team’s backup quarterback, Arch Manning, was at the center of attention as the media flocked to him while leaving Ewers completely by himself.

Arch Manning is no doubt a big name. He is talented, but the reason he hogged the limelight was due to the last name that he carries. In all likelihood, he will not get to see much playtime in the Sugar Bowl because Quinn Ewers is the QB1 but the backup QB faces the same problem Bronny James is fazed with. His last name is associated with legends.

Arch Manning has two of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history as his uncles, Peyton and Eli Manning. His press conference lasted for as long as 40 minutes.
Ironically, his press conference was filled with him trying to put the message across that he does not want to be treated differently because of his last name, he is not a fan of the unwanted attention but at the same time acknowledged the advantage that comes with having two legends as your uncles.

With Quinn Ewers yet to decide if he will declare for the 2024 draft or not, there is no guarantee that Arch Manning will be the starter for the Longhorns next season. However, he is preparing for every game like he is the starter. He revealed the same at the press conference earlier today.
He understands the nature of the game and that the injury bug can bite at any time. When given an opportunity, you have to go out there and perform. It is safe to say Arch Manning will be ready to go if his number is called out there at the Sugar Bowl.
