The New York Jets are leaving no stone untouched in a bid to end their long wait for the elusive Super Bowl title and have signed defensive tackle Quinnen Williams on a four-year contract extension worth a whopping $96 million. The 25-year-old’s bumper contract includes a total of $66 million in guaranteed payment over his contract which will run out till 2027.

Williams has therefore now become the second-highest-paid defensive player in the entirety of the NFL, only coming short of Los Angeles Rams‘ veteran defender Aaron Donald, who signed a three-year contract extension worth $95 million last season. Quinnen Williams, who boasts of an extremely strong physique, had a breakout season in 2022, shattering personal records on all fronts.

Williams has grown into his role exceptionally showing year-on-year progress after being drafted as the overall No.3 pick in the 2019 NFL draft. Last season, the fifth-year defender registered a total of 12 sacks, 28 quarterback hits, and 12 tackles for loss.

Williams joins an illustrious list of players to have secured a new contract at the Jets this offseason. The franchise has already created major headway by signing former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers earlier this offseason.

Jets owner, Woody Johnson came through on his promise from last season, to rope in an “experienced” play-caller. He is also providing him with quality teammates, in the form of wide receivers Allen Lazard, Mecole Hardman, and Randall Cobb to name a few. Quinnen Williams will also have the luxury of playing with his elder brother, Quincy Williams, who was also resigned by the franchise on a three-year contract worth $18 million.

He is all set to partner with Sauce Gardner in defense, and that makes up for quite a scary reading for opposing offenses ahead of the new season. All in all, the Jets have an impressive roster on both fronts and will definitely be one of the teams to watch out for in the 2023/24 season.

Aaron Rodgers and the Jets will hope for junior Williams to continue his progress cometh the regular season, and help them reach their ultimate goal of winning the Super Bowl.
