Raiders choose not to trade a ‘frustrated’ WR Davante Adams ahead of the deadline

Davante Adams is arguably one of the best players in the world. He is also one of the most frustrated players in the league. So far this season, Adams has struggled to produce at an elite level for the Las Vegas Raiders and has cut a frustrated figure more often than not. In the Raiders’ latest game against the Detroit Lions, Adams recorded only one catch for 11 yards. It was one of his worst performances ever in the NFL.

There have been rumors about Adams being traded by the trade deadline. The Raiders, however, haven’t given any indication of doing so. Adams himself said on Friday that he was happy to be a Raider, 100%. 

This was my choice and this is something that I'm standing by, I want to continue to work at, to make it what it's supposed to be. I'm not happy at every moment with the way things go, but I'm definitely proud to wear this uniform. ... I'm not looking for a new home.

Adams signed a five-year, $140 million contract at the start of the 2022 season. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

In his seven seasons with the Packers, Adams established himself as one of the best receivers in the game. He had a great first season with the Raiders in 2022, going for more than 1,500 yards and scoring 14 touchdowns. He joined the Raiders to play with his college quarterback, Derek Carr. However, that lasted for only one season, as Carr was traded to the New Orleans Saints at the beginning of this season.

So far this season, Adams has tallied 47 receptions for 539 yards and three touchdowns. He has struggled to form any kind of chemistry with his QB Jimmy Garoppolo. He hasn’t had a great season so far and the Raiders aren’t looking to trade him either. It will be a long rest of the season for Adams.

Davante Adams, one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, had one of his worst games this season against the Detroit Lions on Monday. He had one reception for 11 yards. He talked about his performance after the game.

Honestly, I don’t know what to say at this moment. I truly don’t. I wish I had the words to say something that’s not going to get blown up in the media and taken out of context, so I’m going to just. . . . I truly, I just don’t know.

Adams’ frustrations boiled over during the game as he was seen throwing his helmet away late in the fourth quarter. The Raiders lost the game 14-26 and have now slipped to 3-5 through eight weeks. They will play the New York Giants in their next game on Sunday.
