So far, the Las Vegas Raiders have performed well in the preseason, bagging two wins and being favorites for a clean sweep against the Dallas Cowboys. While most prefer to witness explosive touchdowns during a game, field goals are also a massive part of it. Kicker Daniel Carlson reminded everyone why they are an invaluable part of the squad.

The game got off to a flying start as Cowboys outgoing quarterback Will Grier scored a 12-yard rushing touchdown. Grier then assisted one tight end, Luke Schoonmaker. The Raiders replied, with running back Austin Walter scoring one in the second quarter.

However, the home team extended their lead with another drive moments later as giant defensive back Hunter Luepke dived into the red zone and gave the Cowboys an 11-point lead. But with 50 seconds left in the first half, Raiders inside linebacker Kana’i Mauga was fouled at the 40-yard mark. Up stepped 28-year-old Daniel Carlson, who scored a 62-yard field goal to mount a comeback.

After Daniel Carlson hit his spot-kick, fans knew instantly that it would be 3 points on the board. They have seen the Auburn graduate hit screamers time and time again since they were in Oakland. In his five-year NFL career, Carlson has a success rate of 88.3% (143 scored from 162 field goal attempts). The Raiders fans are glad that they can rely on him when required.

Meanwhile, his younger brother Anders Carlson who plays for the Green Bay Packers scored a peach of a kick last night. The 25-year-old netted a 57-yard field goal in the second quarter as they defeated the Seattle Seahawks 19-15.

Nevertheless, the holder of the longest field goal belongs to Justin Tucker. The Baltimore Ravens kicker scored from 66 yards against the Detroit Lions in 2021.

However, as some of the fans pointed out, Daniel Carlson’s shot during the match against the Raiders could have traveled 70 yards. If they had happened then the Colorado man would be sitting at the top ahead of Tucker.
