It wasn’t a happy merry Christmas for the Kansas City Chiefs fans on Monday night as they went down to AFC West rivals 20-14. The highlight of the game was Jack Jones picking off Patrick Mahomes‘ pass.

After the first 25 minutes of the game, the Chiefs were trailing by 2 points. They had the ball placed deep inside their half on the 1st and 10th. Mahomes went looking for teammates to throw the ball post-snap and directed the pass to wide receiver Justin Watson.

However, the Las Vegas Raiders cornerback jumped the route, intercepted the pass, and ran straight by the Vegas dugout to score his second pick-6 in 10 days. He jogged toward the stands, which appeared to be with the intention of gifting the ball to a lucky fan.

Jones saw a child with his family, all in Chiefs attire, and went near them. But he’s a Raider, and staying true to that legacy, instead of giving away the ball, he pulled it back at the last moment to make fun of the Chiefs. If there was ever a Grinch moment, this was it.

The confused look on the faces of the parents and the sheer disappointment of the child was as clear as daylight. While they and the entire Arrowhead, filled with Kansas natives, were shocked by the gesture, the Raiders fans who distaste the Chiefs were celebrating like there would never be a tomorrow.

After the game finished 20-14 in favor of the Raiders, Jones went to his Instagram to mock the Chiefs fans a bit more. He shared a picture of his pick-6 with Grinch’s head.

The 26-year-old later revealed what actually happened in that moment. He was going to give the ball to the child wearing the Chiefs gear, but he had to pull out at the last second. According to him,

I didn’t snatch that ball from the kid; it was from that blac dude who tried to take it. Watch it again, lollipops.

Even if that is the truth, it doesn’t take away from the fact that child will grow up to be someone who might hate the Vegas franchise. But being a Chiefs fan kind of automatically turns Kansas folks into natural rivals of the Raiders.
