Raiders players run riot against HC Josh McDaniels as things heat up after their loss to the struggling Bears
Players claim Josh McDaniels calls are outdated.

The Las Vegas Raiders are in deep trouble. It sounds like the story of almost every season for Sin City fans. Not only have they not won the AFC West since 2002, but the Raiders are on a run of six straight seasons with a negative point differential. This downward trajectory has continued despite the appointment of Josh McDaniels last year.
2023 has begun in the same fashion. With just 3 wins from 7 games, the situation is looking bleak. McDaniels is at risk of losing the locker room, considering the news that is leaking out of the facility. The players are not happy and have complained internally that their playstyle is outdated and very easy to read for the opposition team.
A Raiders player who refused to disclose his identity revealed to Mitchell Renz, who covers the Vegas franchise for Chat Sports, said:
Our offense is old-school and not up-to-date. If you watch the best offenses in the NFL, like the [San Francisco] 49ers or the [Philadelphia] Eagles, they all use the entire field and use every player.
Not showing inspiring football is an understatement. The Raiders have only managed to score 20 points this season once. It was against another struggling team, the New England Patriots. Naturally, players will question the methodology of Coach McDaniels. Using the same play call every matchday does become predictable for other teams to figure out.
They added:
Been saying it since last season. It’s hard to win when you’re too damn predictable. They’re too hardheaded to change; that’s why we lose.
Star wide receiver Davante Adams may be vocal about not seeing the ball too much. But it also indicates that his routes are being figured out by the opposition.
A former Las Vegas Raiders defender said Josh McDaniels was the wrong appointment
Owner Mark Davies recently bagged a trophy in a different game. However, if anyone asks him, the veteran businessman will chant, Once a Raider—always a Raider. But his beloved football franchise has been trophyless for four decades. They last tasted Super Bowl success back in 1983, when his father, Al Davies, was in charge. When Mark took over more than 10 years ago, he promised that there would be positive changes. Judging by his tenure as boss, it’s anything but.
Even former players are speaking up against his recent coaching appointments. Ex-Raiders lineman Warren Sapp claimed picking Josh McDaniels was the “wrong” decision.
We got the wrong guy at the helm. The Patriot way is dead, [and] Josh [McDaniels] is trying to recreate something that he doesn’t have the credentials for.Sapp said on Amy Trask and Suzy Shuster’s podcast What the Football?
47-year-old McDaniels has been part of some of the best New England Patriots teams in recent history. He was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach of the New England Patriots team that won six Super Bowls from 2001 to 2018.
However, similar to the Patriots’ downfall in recent times since the departure of Tom Brady, McDaniels’ tactics have proven to be ineffective as well. His regular season record is 20 wins and 32 losses (.385), as per Pro Football Reference.
