Ahead of the 2024 offseason, Christian Wilkins reportedly landed a massive contract deal offered by the Las Vegas Raiders, as the franchise aims to secure the Super Bowl trophy by all means possible. They are not taking the upcoming season lightly, especially the offseason as it lays the groundwork for a winning campaign.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Monday, that Christian Wilkins is likely to sign a four-year contract deal worth $110 million, including a $84.75 million guaranteed.

Despite having a career season and leading the team to the postseason, the Miami Dolphins did not opt to franchise tag him for another season– giving him a go-ahead for free agency. Wilkins logged career-high stats with 9 sacks, 65 combined tackles, and 23 QB hits.

As the 28-year-old entered the free agency market, he was ranked second on the Top 101 NFL free agents 2024 by Gregg Rosenthal. Having Wilkins on the roster, the Las Vegas Raiders have now strengthened their defensive line by having two dominant players such as Wilkins and pass rusher Maxx Crosby, who logged a career-high 14.5 sacks last season.

On the other hand, the Dolphins would now have a major crisis in hand regarding their defensive line. Not only Wilkins was a powerful force on their defensive front, but also one of the best locker-room leaders.

Fan reaction to Christian Wilkins’ $110 million contract with the Raiders

There’s no otherwise to the Raiders’ decision to have Wilkins as a great offseason move. But that’s not what concerns the fans.

One of the other notable things regarding Wilkins’ contract with the Raiders is his salary. They are giving the defensive tackle $84.75 million guaranteed with an average annual salary of $27.5 million. In fans’ opinion, that’s way too high for Wilkins and they did not hold back from voicing their concerns on social media.

One fan wrote, “He does NOT deserve that amount of money,” while another wrote, “Overpay + raiders still last in the division not moved.” Wilkins’ massive contract isn’t appreciated by the fans, especially the Dolphins fans who called him overpaid.
