The Green Bay Packers had a really tough choice to make. Either let their best and most dramatic quarterback Aaron Rodgers go and spread the money around or retain Aaron at any cost and then try to cut costs as much as possible. They took the second option and had to pay dearly for it.

Davante Adams is undoubtedly one of the best wide receivers going around at this point in time. So when he announced that he will not play under the franchise tag something had to give as Green Bay had already dedicated a lot of funds towards retaining Rodgers.

As expected, the Packers had to trade Davante to the Las Vegas Raiders who offered a massive contract to the star receiver. According to Ian Rapoport, the Raiders offered Davante a five-year, $141.25 million contract which eventually makes him the new highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL.

Recently, Green Bay’s current wide receiver Randall Cobb was asked how Davante Adams was doing. In response, as reported by Rob Demovsky, a seemingly frustrated Cobb said, “he’s still alive, you know that, right? This is a business man. If we haven’t realized that yet, then what are we doing?

Cobb then went on to thank Adams for all the efforts he made to guide the Packers to several important wins. “Thankful I got to play with him for as long as I did. He gave us 8 amazing years.” He then added that although Davante’s stint with Green Bay was terrific everything good has to end at a certain point in life.

Everything good comes to an end whether you’re ready. Things happen in life. Life is bigger than football. We have lives outside of this game and sometimes life brings us in different directions. We’re human. We make decisions,” he went on to add. It will be interesting to see how much Davante’s absence will affect the Packers next season.
