Who knew Andy Reid, promptly known as one of the NFL’s best coaches, once participated in the Pass and Kick competition at the young age of 13 years old? Well, neither did his team at the Kansas City Chiefs

To a highly decorated career, Reid added another AFC championship win when his team claimed triumph over the Chiefs. His team has now proceeded to their fourth Super Bowl in the last five years, which is set to be against the San Francisco 49ers. A win that would establish the Chiefs’ head coach name among the only NFL coaches in history to lead their teams to three Super Bowl victories.

And as he prepares for the big game, an old video of Reid has surfaced over the internet from the year 1971 where he can be seen throwing a rainbow pass, whilst already looking giant compared to his peers at the Pass and Kick Competition during a Monday Night Football Game.

When rookie wide receiver Rashee Rice was shown the video, he gave the most priceless reaction as he giggled in disbelief of his coach. Rice remarked on Reid’s huge physique:

His helmet’s too small. Looks like he got like a hat on.

Rice added in sheer disbelief as he giggled at the video:

No way that’s him.

The rookie also said he’d surely ask his head coach about his endeavor at the age of 13.

How rookie receiver Rashee Rice defied the odds and impressed coach Andy Reid

After winning Super Bowl LVII, the Chiefs took a risky move by going forward with rookie wide receivers this season, which also didn’t turn out as they hoped for. But one receiver who surpassed the team and HC Reid’s expectations was rookie receiver Rice, drafted in the second round pick.

Rice finished the regular season with a total catches of 79, seven touchdowns, and 938 yards — second-most receiving yards by the Chiefs, after tight end Travis Kelce

As the Chiefs entered the postseason, Rice recorded 223 yards, 20 catches, and a touchdown in the last three games. Posting such stats brings veteran coach Reid to hope for the team’s wide receiver problem, which may contribute fairly to their Super Bowl win against the Niners.
