It’s quite easy to get affected by the intensity of football, especially in a game as big as the AFC championship. But if you ask Zay Flowers, he sure knows his way around as the rookie wide receiver claimed he has already moved on from the Baltimore Ravens’ devastating loss in the playoffs.

Entering the AFC championship game, the Ravens were the favorite to win against the Kansas City Chiefs given their dominating record throughout the regular season, 12-5, which made them the top-seeded team in the conference. However, the game didn’t go as they planned, and saw them getting eliminated at 10-17.

Among the many things that went sideways for the team on Sunday, late in the fourth quarter, rookie wide receiver Flowers logged a fumble right near the goal line. After that, neither the Ravens were able to cover the costly fumble nor did they have the time.

But Flowers is determined to not let that one mistake define his career or performance for the entire 2023-24 NFL season. He revealed he has already moved on from the ill-timed fumble and ain’t let it break him.

Zay Flowers’ bittersweet end to a record-breaking rookie season

As the fourth quarter began, the Ravens were trailing 7-17, and the rookie wideout appeared to have attempted a touchdown to make it a one-possession game, after catching a short pass from quarterback Lamar Jackson at the opponent’s 7-yard line. However, inside the 5-yard line, three defenders came in and covered him.

In an attempt to move forward, Flowers extended the ball forward with both his hands. Seizing the opportunity, the Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed punched the ball out right before Flowers crossed the goal line, resulting in the rookie’s first fumble of his football career.

Regardless of what happened in the AFC title game, Flowers had the best rookie season for a wide receiver in Baltimore’s history. He also set a rookie record of 77 receptions for 858 yards.
