Ray Anthony Lewis III is the son of former Baltimore Ravens legend Ray Lewis. He died in the middle of last month, as his body was discovered naked and unresponsive. Now, a month later, reports have come out that the eventual cause of death was a drug overdose.

A recent autopsy report received by TMZ states that the 28-year-old had alcohol, alprazolam (Xanax), fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine in his system. It is widely used as an anxiety medication but should be administered in small portions.

When the Casselberry Police arrived at Lewis’ house on June 14, he was found motionless in his bedroom. During the examination, one of his friends, who was one of the first responders, shouted, “He needs Narcan!” The cops administered an opioid-reversal drug but failed in their attempt to revive the unfortunate Lewis.

This coincides with the Blue pill that the investigator recovered from the scene, believed to be Xanax. Moreover, a needle and a beer can filled with a small plastic bag were also found nearby.

Ray Lewis III is the eldest son of former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Rey Lewis. He has six siblings: Rahsaan, Rayshard, Ralin, Diaymon, and Kaitlin. They were greatly influenced by their father’s football career. But only Ray Lewis III, Rahsaan, and Rayshard followed in his footsteps.

Lewis III played running back and recorded 1,898 rushing yards with 20 touchdowns. He also caught four touchdowns for 676 receiving yards while playing for Lake Mary in Florida. After graduating, he moved from college to college. Started with Florida, then Coastal Carolina, next at Virginia Union, and last played in Arena League. In 2016, Lewis III was accused of sexual assault and consequently dropped from the Carolina Chanticleers football program. But the charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence.

Lewis’s brother Rashaan wrote, “I really can’t believe I’m even typing this, but RIP big brother. A true angel, I pray you are at peace now.” Rey Lewis Sr. played for the Ravens from 1996–2012 and won two Super Bowls. He gave a heartwarming eulogy during his son’s funeral.
