Late in the third quarter, San Francisco 49ers’ wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud attempted to come up with a loose ball when the ball wounded right in front of him following a punt from Kansas City Chiefs’ Tommy Townsend. Unfortunately, he couldn’t succeed as the ball made an unexpected bounce resulting in McCloud’s failure.
Among the many factors contributing to the 49ers’ tragic Super Bowl loss, McCloud’s misplay became quite evident. On the very next play, their opponents finally got the hook of the loose ball and converted it into a touchdown contributing to their recovery late in the game.
However, the receiver’s failure made quite a noise among the fans, to the extent that McCloud himself had to engage with a fan who claimed if the wideout hadn’t failed, Brock Purdy and the Niners wouldn’t have lost the Super Bowl. The fan wrote:
Brock Purdy is a Super Bowl champion right now if this punt isn’t muffed and it won’t get talked about but the Chiefs offense was cooked up until they got gifted this. The fan wrote
McCloud had to defend himself online through his social media stating that it wasn’t him to muffed the punt and that he was actually trying to save the loose ball when he went after it. He wrote:
If you don’t know football don’t speak about the play! Cuz that’s not a muff goofy boy!Ray-Ray McCloud on X
Taylor Swift gets no respect from 49ers’ Ray-Ray McCloud
Prior to the big game, the 49ers receiver McCloud made quite the headline after he claimed he wasn’t interested in meeting the iconic superstar, Taylor Swift whose presence was expected at the game, given her high-profile relationship with opponents’ tight end Travis Kelce.
The reason why fans were eager to know whether McCloud would consider meeting the 14-time Grammy winner was because McCloud is a musician and CEO of entertainment agency Legend Tribe Entertainment.
When TMZ asked him about his plans to meet Swift, he denied saying:
This is football. We don't care about no album coming out. We don't care about none of that.Ray-Ray McCloud said
Though the wideout congratulated her on winning the fourth Grammy award for the album of the year, he clarified that at the big game of Super Bowl– no one cares about that.
