Sunday night game between the Buffalo Bills and the New York Giants ended with controversial calling from the referees, and fans were left scratching their heads. The Giants had the chance to win the game with a walkoff touchdown after the whistle had been blown due to pass interference on a defender. It looked like a certain scoring opportunity until the ball was in the air.

Giants were missing regular quarterback Daniel Jones due to an injury and started with former Bills QB Tyrod Taylor. He had a decent outing considering he hasn’t seen action in a long time. Taylor finished the night with 24 of his 36 passes completed for 200 yards with zero touchdowns or interceptions. However, he could have led his team to a victory if the referees were on their game.

Trailing by 5, Taylor threw the football aimed at the tight end, Darren Waller. He looked to have it in his grasp for a second, but Bills cornerback Taron Johnson put enough pressure on Waller that he couldn’t keep the pass under his control.

Upon further review, it was clear to see that Johnson was blatantly holding Waller’s jersey as he tried to start his run. The Giants got the first extension, but this one got overlooked.

Social media not happy with referees missing out on a blatant foul on Giants’ Darren Waller

Needless to say, Giants and football fans in general were not impressed or surprised, for that matter, with on-field officials missing what could have been a game-changing moment.

Some of them took to social media to express their disappointment over the constant butchery of officiating.

After the game, the press found Taron Johnson inside the Giants’ locker room and asked him about his opinion on the play. He thought it was fake blocking.

“I mean, the pass was high, it was tight, and I thought it was fake blocking for a long time,” Johnson said. “I thought it was going to be a run, but he ended up running the route, so I just kept my eyes on him.”

The Giants could have won their second game of the season. But the defeat means they are now 1–5. Their dream of playing in the playoffs for the second year in a row since 2007–08 looks to be fading away quickly.
