The first round of the 2023 NFL draft has ended, and it was quite an interesting one at that. As expected, the Panthers selected Alabama QB Bryce Young first overall, thus ending their search for a franchise signal caller.
The Houston Texans pulled a fast one on everyone with the 2nd and 3rd overall picks, selecting QB C.J. Stroud and OLB Will Anderson Jr. However, the highlight of the draft was most definitely Kyle Stickles. This young man won the hearts of everyone as he had the opportunity to announce the first-round pick of the New York Jets through the Make-A-Wish foundation. His energy was almost infectious as he hyped up the entire crowd as he called out Iowa DE Will McDonald.
Moreover, what shocked everyone the most, and especially Cowboys’ golden boy Micah Parsons, was the selection of Georgia DT Jalen Carter. The Philadelphia Eagles swapped their No.10 pick with the Chicago Bears and picked Carter ninth overall.
The thing that ticked off Parsons and others was how could teams pass up on Jalen Carter. He is touted to be the best defensive lineman rather than the best player in the draft. The Eagles had the steal of the draft in Carter and just strengthen their defense as one of the deadliest ones in the league.

Jalen Carter gets fun made of due to a reporter’s error
With Jalen Carter being picked by the Eagles, every talk show discussed the impact this would have in the NFC and the league. During one such show, an NFL reporter had all her worst nightmares come true on national television live.
The female reporter was talking about Carter when she slipped up and said an NSFW phrase and fans immediately caught it. She said talking about the new Eagles defensive tackle: “What we’re hearing is Jalen Carter, the D-tackle from Georgia, just won a national championship with the Bulldogs, big d***- big guy…”
Fans on social media couldn’t let this go and swarmed the Internet with funny reactions and hilarious comments.
Jalen Carter was initially said to be a top-three pick in the draft but saw his stock fall down because of his involvement in the fatal car crash that killed two members of the Georgia Bulldogs. Carter was sentenced to a 12-month probation and a $1000 fine on the misdemeanor charges for his involvement in the crash.
