The San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo is headed towards unrestricted free agency in March. The 31-year-old would be a well-sought-after quarterback and according to senior ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler, Garoppolo is expected to be the third in the QB hierarchy in the upcoming NFL offseason behind the Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and the former Raiders QB Derek Carr.

During a recent episode of NFL Live on ESPN network, the senior NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler made an appearance to talk about the off-season quarterback carousel which involves multiple big names. In the episode, he talked about Jimmy G’s expectations about a new contract and also revealed some ideal teams for the two-time Super Bowl Champion.

“We have Jimmy Garoppolo. So talking to teams around the league, he’s expected to be really number 3 on the pecking order behind Derek Carr and Aaron Rodgers in this quarterback carousel we’re all talking about,” said Fowler in a recent episode of NFL Live.

Furthermore, he went on to name some fitting teams for Jimmy G and also revealed that Garoppolo will be a costly QB in the free agency. “Natural fits… you got the Houston Texans if they need a bridge option behind whoever they draft and then the Atlanta Falcons, cause Arthur Smith runs a variation of that Kyle Shanahan’s‘ system, now, Garoppolo is gonna be costly, he wants a contract that measures with his skill-set and ability,” said Fowler about the 49ers QB.

The Ideal landing spots for Jimmy Garoppolo

As ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler mentioned, the ideal spots for Jimmy Garoppolo are the Atlanta Falcons and the Texans, where he can go and play without many expectations and help their future franchise quarterback.

The Atlanta Falcons have the weapons for Jimmy G and they are also in a weak NFC South division. This means Garoppolo can immediately make the Falcons an NFC South contender.

And as for the Houston Texans, Garoppolo will be purely a bridge quarterback for whichever QB they select in the upcoming NFL Draft. The college prospect can sit behind him and learn the game for one or two years. This could be enough time for a complete rebuild of the dismantled franchise.

Nevertheless, Garoppolo could still very well end up as the signal-caller of the Jets, if they somehow fail to sign either Carr or Rodgers. Besides, that would be the best-case scenario for the 31-year-old QB who could benefit from the loaded roaster in New York.
