The Aaron Rodgers saga is finally over after months of uncertainty surrounding his future and the quarterback is all set to don the New York Jets shirt for the upcoming NFL season. Despite Aaron Rodgers clearly stating his wish of joining the Jets, the move had stalled for over a month with the two franchises not being able to find an amicable trading term.

Finally, it has emerged that the Jets will be giving up three guaranteed draft picks in 2023 with another conditional pick in 2024 if the quarterback ends up taking 65% of the Jets’ total offensive snaps in the 2023 season. Rodgers’ trade is a significant one for the New York Jets, who haven’t had a quarterback of this quality ever since the departure of Joe Namath in 1976.

The blockbuster trade deal has brought back faith and enthusiasm amongst the Jets fans, who now see their side becoming potential Super Bowl contenders in the immediate future. Their only Super Bowl success came in 1969, and after a dismal performance in the NFL last season, things had looked grim at the start of the offseason.

Former Jets head coach Rex Ryan couldn’t be more pumped up after Aaron Rodgers’ trade was made official. Speaking on the Get Up show, Ryan revealed what it will mean for the Jets to have a quarterback of Rodgers’ quality.

“My dad’s Super Bowl ring right here. And I feel like, why am I wearing it? Because the Jets are going in to me. Watch out, everybody. Here come the Jets. Here come the Jets. And right now, we haven’t had this type of quarterback maybe ever since Namath, whatever, maybe ever,” Ryan started off.

He predicted them to reach the Super Bowl with Aaron Rodgers at the heart of the offensive plays, while also claiming that they have the best quarterback in the entire AFC East division.

“But anyway, this is it. This is the missing piece for the New York Jets right here. And you know what? Guess what? All you fans of the AFC East things, it ain’t no fun when the rabbit’s got the gun because we got the gun right now and it is on our defenses better than yours.”

“Our quarterback’s better than yours. It is on. This is a great move right here, man. Kudos to Woody Johnson, to Robert Saleh, Joe Douglas, that team. And I told you guys, Woody’s never been the problem. He put the money out there. He said, there they are going for it. And they should.”

The positivity and enthusiasm is definitely back amongst the Jets fans after Rodgers’ trade and it now remains to be seen what the four-time NFL MVP winner can conjure up in his first season with the Jets.
