Undisputed has found its Shannon Sharpe replacement in the shape of Richard Sherman. The former football player turned sports presenter looks set to sit face-to-face with Skip Bayless once again after they famously taunted each other on live television.
More than a decade ago, the two had a run-in on Bayless’ old show, ESPN’s First Take. Sherman, then part of the Seattle Seahawks, was famous for trash talk and banter. However, on this occasion, his words sounded serious, indicating his detest for the veteran analyst.
“You have never accomplished anything,” Sherman said. He added that his qualifications and achievements were better than those of Skip Bayless. “Address me as an All-Pro Stanford graduate. Because those are accomplishments you will never achieve.”
Bayless replied back, saying he has achieved a lot in his field (as a journalist and presenter). However, Sherman was having none of it and even called the 71-year-old an “ignorant, pompous, egotistical cretin.”
It will be interesting to see the pair go at each other week after week. Although Andrew Marchand of the New York Post claimed the two recently sat down for a talk, Sherman has not signed the contract yet.
Shannon Sharpe left Undisputed after the NBA Finals game earlier this year after falling out with co-host Skip Bayless. The Super Bowl winner reportedly had enough of Bayless’ selfish comments and overbearing personality. Since then, several names, such as Keyshawn Johnson and LeSean McCoy, have been linked as the replacement for Sharpe.
What is Richard Sherman’s occupation after retirement?
Richard Sherman was an elite cornerback in the NFL from 2011–21. He was a fifth-round pick for the Seattle Seahawks in the 2011 NFL Draft and spent seven seasons with them. The 35-year-old won the 2014 Super Bowl and was inducted with an All-Pro title for three consecutive seasons (2012–2014). In 2018, he signed with the San Francisco 49ers for three years and later ended his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021.
After retirement, he became the face of Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime Video. He will also appear alongside his former teammate Marshawn Lynch on the FOX show Stars on Mars. About Sherman’s new development starring on Undisputed, Andrew Marchand revealed, “He’ll “go at it with Bayless on around 50–100 shows per year, mostly during football season.”
