The San Francisco 49ers’ win over the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship game wasn’t a straightforward one. They had to overcome a 17-point first-half deficit to win the game and set up a rematch with the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. Brock Purdy and the Niners have faced a lot of criticism throughout the season and that did not stop, despite advancing to the Super Bowl.

Former Niner and current Fox Sports analyst Richard Sherman, however, has always come to his former team’s defense this season. He did so again during the Fox Sports show, Undisputed’s latest episode. Sherman criticized the co-hosts Skip Bayless and Keyshawn Johnson when they talked about some hypothetical situations during the Niners’ NFC Championship game.

Sherman said on the show:

Why do you keep saying IF when it comes to my 49ers !! What if Lamar Jackson would have got sacked on the first touchdown of the game?... I'm tired of the IFs from you guys. I'm tired of it.

Johnson then referenced a crucial Josh Reynolds drop during the game and said that he should’ve caught the ball. Johnson said:

In the NFC Championship game, everything is on the line dawg. You gotta catch that.
Keyshawn Johnson said

The Niners haven’t been convincing in both of their playoff wins this season. However, they have got the job done and will look to have a much better outing in the Super Bowl. They will take on the Chiefs at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on February 11.

Richard Sherman has a fitting retort to Brock Purdy’s critics

This season, a number of NFL analysts have criticized the San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy. On Sunday, following San Francisco’s thrilling victory over the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship Game at Levi’s Stadium, former 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman responded sarcastically to the critics.

Sherman was quick to commend Purdy on social media following the 49ers’ thrilling 34-31 victory over the Lions, citing his outstanding play both on the ground and in the air as San Francisco overcame a 17-point deficit.

Sherman wrote on his X account:

Wait…. Did Brock Purdy make clutch plays with his arm and legs to help his team in the NFC championship. Epic comeback? Wait I thought?!!!!! Game manager……

Although Purdy had a rough start to the NFC Championship Game on Sunday, throwing a few poor passes and giving up a costly interception that resulted in a touchdown for the Lions, the young signal-caller eventually settled in and guided the 49ers to victory with 27 straight points. Purdy and the 49ers will now travel to Las Vegas to play the Chiefs in a Super Bowl rematch.
