The American pop icon Rihanna will be headlining the halftime performance during the Super Bowl this Sunday. As a part of the big event, Rihanna attended her press day on Thursday, where she learned that the Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been pranked by a reporter with a fake quote. Brandon Marshall, who works as an NFL reporter, pranked Mahomes with a fake Rihanna quote on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, the Chiefs’ star QB Patrick Mahomes addressed the media ahead of their much-awaited Super Bowl game against the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday. During the pre-game press conference, the 2022 league MVP was pranked by the former New York Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall with a fake Rihanna quote.

“Rihanna came out and said that you are the greatest quarterback ever. Hearing that, how does that make you feel?,” Marshall asked. To which the two-time MVP Mahomes answered with a smirk, thinking it was a legit quote. However, Marshall soon revealed that the quote was fake and that he was just messing around. After that, the All-Pro QB was visibly a little pissed for a moment, but then just laughed about the whole thing. “Oh man, you got me up here smiling and smirking,” Mahomes replied with a smile.

After the hilarious prank, Brandon Marshall met with the 9-time Grammy award winner during her press day on Thursday ahead of the Super Bowl game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.

During his meeting, he told Rihanna how he tricked Patrick Mahomes just a day before.  “That’s so mean. He is mean, O.K.,” said the pop icon after the former NFL wideout revealed how he tricked Mahomes using her name. “I’m so sorry you went through that [Patrick],” Rihanna said with a smile when Marshall asked her to actually say something nice about the All-Pro QB. “I still think you’re great. [Brandon’s] a hater!”

Jokes apart, Rihanna revealed that she’s very excited about headlining the halftime performance during the big game. “The Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world, so as scary as that was because I haven’t been on stage in seven years, there’s something exhilarating about the challenge of it all … It’s important for my son to see that,” said Rihanna about her decision to perform in the big game.

On the sporting side of things, the Philadelphia Eagles led by their Pro Bowl QB Jalen Hurts are preparing to go against the AFC Champions Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl this Sunday.
