The question “Should men be allowed to play in women’s sports?” sounds ridiculous to ask and while it may seem that the answer to that question is pretty self-explanatory, that is far from the truth. In recent times, this question has left sports federations perplexed.
It has become a problem in certain sports such as weightlifting, CrossFit, and athletic events where the playing field is no longer level and favors the transgender woman whose genetic makeup is higher than that of her female opponents.
One would think that this fact by itself is the reason men should not be allowed to compete in women’s sports, however, the topic has become a controversial one that celebrities try to refrain from getting themselves involved in. Rob Gronkowski, one of the greatest tight ends to play for the New England Patriots appears to be one of the celebrities taking a cautious stance on this topic.
Rob Gronkowski wants men to stick to playing in men’s sports
Last month, Gronk was asked by a reporter if men should be allowed to play in women’s sports. The tight end shook his head but refrained from making any comments. Gronk answered the question in a subtle manner. However, he elaborated upon his thoughts in an interview with Fox News. “There’s really no thoughts to really even share. It’s the obvious. There are men’s sports for men, there’s women’s sports for women. It should just stay like that. It’s just as simple as that, man. There’s really no argument. There should really be no conversation about it,” Gronkowski stated and spoke his mind.

The tight end doubled down on his stance by stating, “How it’s been is how it should be. Men play men’s sports, women play women’s sports. It’s as simple as that. It’s really unfair if a man went into a women’s sport and played it. It just doesn’t really make much sense to me.”
Rob Gronkowski believes that individuals born as females must be allowed to play in women’s sports. His approach is simple, to keep sports the way it is and free from any controversy and complications. Gronkowski’s decision to make a statement regarding his stance on an issue is similar to that of his counterparts across the world of sports.
The question of men in women’s sports was thrust into the spotlight when pro powerlifter Avi Silverberg, the head coach for the Canadian Powerlifting team entered the the Heroes Classic Tournament in Lethbridge, Alberta by identifying as a female. He did this to raise awareness regarding how easy it was to mislead and misuse the system and ruin women’s sports.
