Rob Gronkowski is one of the most influential retired players in the NFL. The former Bucs TE now works for Fox as an analyst and has been avidly involved in the workings of the league.
Therefore, it came as a huge surprise when Gronks missed the Super Bowl clash between the Chiefs and the Eagles along with his girlfriend Camille Kostek. Many felt the absence of the legendary TE as he doesn’t usually miss the star-studded event.
However, he had his reasons as stated by his girlfriend Camille who shared the reason Gronkowski wasn’t able to make the Super Bowl festivities. Camille was recently present at the Outer Banks season 3 premiere and there she spoke to ‘Entertainment tonight’ about their absence from the Super Bowl.
The couple was present in Arizona but weren’t able to make the game due to a commercial shoot for Gronkowski. The former Patriots TE was shooting a live TV ad for ‘FanDuel’.
“He shot the first-ever live Super Bowl commercial for FanDuel. He had that kick of destiny,” Kostek told Entertainment Tonight. “[It was] a thirty-second spot, [so] we had to shoot right over [the game].”
The company that Rob was shooting the commercial for decided to give their users around $10 million if he would have made the 25-yard field goal. However, the legendary TE wasn’t able to make the field goal.
Rob Gronkowski ended up missing the kick worth $10 million

The company FanDuel had made an interesting deal with Rob Gronkowski and offered around $10 million to all the existing users who had placed bets on the Super Bowl game between the Chiefs and the Eagles. The only catch was, that Gronkowski needs to convert the 25-yard field goal. Unfortunately, he missed the kick but FanDuel decided to give away $10 million anyways.
“This kick is for America,” this is $10 million for all my fans out there. This is a kick of destiny. I gotta kick this right through the goal post for America,” Gronkowski stated. “I haven’t kicked a football since seven years ago in a practice, so this is more nerve-racking than playing in a Super Bowl game,”
Rob Gronkowski is a four-time Super Bowl winner but kicking a field goal isn’t his specialty and he’ll stick to analyzing the game from now on. There are also rumors of him reuniting with his good friend and former Patriots and Bucs teammate Tom Brady as the legendary QB has retired and will be honoring his Fox deal sometimes soon.
