Former Buccaneers-Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is arguably one of the greatest tight ends to ever play the game of football. During his days of playing football, Gronkowski was mostly known for two things. They are dominating the opponents on the field and partying like a frat boy off the field. Before he was an NFL player, the 4-time All-Pro tight end once partied so hard that he showed up to the pre-Draft evaluations with the Patriots completely wasted.
All players go through an exhausting process before the Draft so that the teams can evaluate the player. However, Gronkowski showed up to his meeting with the Patriots with a hangover that somehow ended well for him. And after a stellar 11-year career, Gronkowski reminisces about the exhausting Draft process. The 5-time Pro Bowler recently sat down with Jason Tartick where he shared the hangover story.
The 4-time Super Bowl Champion revealed that after going through a few times with a hangover he was absolutely exhausted and his “mind was shut off” during his visit with the New England Patriots.
“I partied super hard one night, this was one of my mistakes,” said Gronkowski in a recent episode of Trading Secrets Podcast. “I partied at the University of Arizona one night and got absolutely hammered and had to jump on the flight the next day and start this whole tour. So, I already put myself in the bag. So I’m on this tour, I’m falling asleep, I’m hungover, I’m visiting all these teams, and I got to New England and I’m cashed.”
Former Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski didn’t care about which round he would get selected

Furthermore, the former Buccaneers tight end also revealed that after going through some teams, he didn’t care about impressing the teams anymore and he would be fine, no matter what round he gets drafted on.
“I was like whatever team takes me, whatever round I go, whippy-doo. Like, I’m over this situation and process. I show up and I’m like I don’t give a flying sh** no more, I’m just gonna let it be, I’m just gonna let it fly,” said Gronkowski before revealing that his mind was shut off during his meeting with Patriots OC Bill O’Brien. “I didn’t know one single thing, my mind was shut off.”
Nevertheless, it seems like it all worked in the end for Rob Gronkowski since he was drafted by the Patriots in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft. The 6-6′ tight end went on to have a stellar 11-year-long career with the Patriots and the Buccaneers alongside the legendary QB Tom Brady and will possibly become a first-ballot Hall of Famer in near future.
