The Patriots staff had to cut Rob Gronkowski's draft celebration short because he was taking his sweet time enjoying the moment.

Rob Gronkowski lives life to the fullest. He is one of those individuals who would get into trouble for being carefree and enjoying the moment. One such story about the future Hall of Famer was from his draft day.

The New England Patriots selected Gronkowski in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He played nine years with the New England franchise, winning three Super Bowl rings. For his decorated NFL career, Apple TV+ decided to feature the 34-year-old retired tight end in their new series, “The Dynasty: New England Patriots.”

In one of the episodes, Gronkowski, along with his quarterback partner Tom Brady, revealed some of their memorable moments, which the general public isn’t privy to. This is when the five-time Pro Bowler spoke about getting into trouble ‘just five minutes after being drafted’ by the Patriots.

When I was drafted to the Patriots, it was a proud moment. My family came on stage as well.

The moment had him riled, and he started shouting on the stage, “jumping up and down.” But the fun lasted for a short moment. The Patriots apparently scolded him for enjoying himself too much after chest bumping with NFL commissioner Rodger Goodell.

They said, 'Hey, Rob. You can get off the stage now. Enough is enough. And I am like, It's been five minutes since I've been on the Patriots, and I'm already in trouble!'

Bill Belichick’s first impression of Rob Gronkowski

Even before the Patriots added the former Wildcat, Gronkowski did not project a good first impression on head coach Bill Belichick. During the NFL’s 100th anniversary, a now-retired coach shared seeing the tight end for the first time.

Belichick told Rich Eisen, as per Yahoo Sports:

Rob was kind of a shot in the dark. He came up on his pre-draft visit and had a bad visit. We put him in a room, came back, and he was asleep on the floor. I didn’t make a very good impression.

Naturally, Eisen wanted to get the entire picture. So he asked the obvious question:

He was what? Sleeping on the floor?

Imagine sleeping on the floor of the Patriots headquarters and finding Bill Belichick staring down after waking up. It must have been quite a sight for the staff. But everything worked out perfectly in the end. Rob Gronkowski amassed 7,861 receiving yards, 80 total touchdowns, five Pro Bowls, and three Super Bowl rings.
