The Patriots icon Rob Gronkowski is one of the most dominant athletes in the sport of football. He dominated the sport for 11 years with two different teams before he announced his retirement in 2022. Gronk was known as a massive party boy in the league but one time his frat boy “act” got him into trouble when he made a sexually inappropriate comment toward a reporter.

During the build-up to the Patriots’ Super Bowl game against the LA Rams, the Patriots’ 4-time All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski was asked by a female reporter what were the chances that he would retire after the Super Bowl game. To which, Gronkowski made an inappropriate joke with his favorite number.

“You guys know my favorite number. You know what I’m talking about. She knows what number I’m talking about,” Gronkowski said as he pointed to a female reporter. “Ask her. That’s the answer. I’ll give you a math problem: What’s six times nine plus six plus nine?”

The 4-time Super Bowl Champion’s irresponsible comments got him in some rough waters as he faced massive backlash from a lot of people including the fans and some reporters.

The Patriots legend Rob Gronkowski faced heavy backlash

One day after Rob Gronkowski made sexually inappropriate jokes toward a female reporter during the media ahead of the 2019 Super Bowl, he was heavily criticized by Chris Callin, Maggie Gray, and Chris Bart on their radio show WFAN.

“That one is a crossing the line. I think there has been a pass that’s been given to Rob Gronkowski for a really long time,” radio host Maggie Gray said on WFAN. “I think part of the pass that he gets comes with the fact he is doing this and really doesn’t have anything in his past or in his private life that would indicate he actually has an issue. It just seems like an act.”

“Workplace etiquette, right?” said Bart Scott. “He has to understand that this is business time, it’s workplace time, that you can’t go that route. It’s not the time or the place.”

Moreover, some fans on social media demanded the league suspend Rob Gronkowski for his immature comments. Nevertheless, Gronk went on to play in the Super Bowl and the Patriots won the game by 13-3.

Rob Gronkowski’s parents are Gordon Gronkowski and Diane Walters and he retired from football after that game and stayed retired for one season before he eventually came back to play football with Tom Brady in Tampa Bay. Gronk also ended up winning a Super Bowl with the Buccaneers in 2021 and retired from the sport for good in 2022.
