Deion Sanders dropped a massive announcement recentlu, claiming that Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter would be the top four picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. On top of that, the Colorado Buffaloes head coach revealed that they will not entertain certain cities.
Understandably, Deion Sanders would speak on behalf of Shedeur because they are father and son. Previously, Archie Manning played an active role in luring Eli Manning away from the San Diego Chargers to the New York Giants. However, the coach getting involved in where his player would be drafted is uncharted territory.
Naturally, this was a major topic on ESPN’s Get Up. Former NFL quarterback turned analyst Robert Griffin III chimed in with his take on the matter. RG3 claimed football is going through a transition period, which could cause a paradigm shift in how things run in the NFL.
The power shift is coming, so everyone needs to buckle up.Griffin said
In the recent past, college football has seen several high-profile coaches leave their jobs or switch over to the NFL. Griffin argued that one of the reasons for their departure was the diminishing of their stranglehold on players after the introduction of NIL. It provided a great deal of power and influence for the players.
Well, guess what? Those same kids that they’re running away from are going to be the ones coming up the ranks and coming into the NFL in the next few years. So, Deion’s saying that either Shedeur [Sanders] or Travis [Hunter] are going to pull an Eli doesn’t surprise me.Griffin added
Will Shedeur Sanders follow the example of Caleb Williams?
Griffin hinted that the football world will perhaps see its initiation during this year’s draft. Everyone is keeping an eye on No. 1 prospect Caleb Williams‘ move on draft day. The USC quarterback is projected to join the Chicago Bears. However, he and his camp have shown disdain toward moving to Chicago, not because of the franchise’s poor record in developing quarterbacks but because of the weather.
He also refused to take part in the NFL Combine and did not even show up for any medicals. Moreover, he is not the only one thinking in the same bracket. Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr. (projected No. 2) was also a no-show in the combine.
In today’s age, with the athletes and their mindset, they’re empowered. They know that they can control their own narratives. They know that they can be a part of the media while they’re still playing.Griffin said
Shedeur Sanders is one of the highest earners through his various NIL deals. He used some of the money to buy a house for his dad, made customized jewelry, and started a collection of shades with his father.
