Former signal caller and present-day analyst Robert Griffin III had a wild suggestion for the Kansas City Chiefs. The team is looking to sign a prolific wide receiver ahead of the 2024-25 season. After the departure of Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins, the Chiefs have not had the service of any ‘world-class’ receiver.

The roster for the Chiefs’ offense looks decent for the time being with Rashee Rice as a receiver. However, the recent Super Bowl win doesn’t mean that they can still bag another one with the same setup. The Chiefs might take a bold step to fix the receiving department.

Following all these possibilities, Griffin has suggested that the team could go for the Baltimore Ravens WR Odell Beckham Jr. OBJ made his return to the field last year after being absent in the majority of the games in 2022 due to multiple injury concerns. He even completed a game with more than 100 yards. However, the experienced WR failed to live up to the expectations if looked at from a broader view.

Despite this, OBJ remained one of the most loved wide receivers in football. The statement from RGIII reflected that. Taking the issue to X, the former quarterback added,

The @chiefs SHOULD SIGN Odell Beckham Jr. Last year he proved he is STILL DYNAMIC after being 8th in the NFL averaging 16.1 yards per catch. The @Chiefs struggled with drops last year, but @obj had the lowest drop rate of his career with 1 drop on 64 targets (1.6%). Chief him.

The Chiefs struggled due to the WR crisis

The Chiefs indeed struggled a lot due to the wide receiver crisis in the 2023 season. Both wide receivers Kadarius Toney and Marquez Valdes-Scantling were seen dropping balls in essential games. The dropped catch of the latter in the game against the Philadelphia Eagles cost the Chiefs the game. Kadarius Toney also had multiple poor performances. His drop led to a pick-six in the first game of the season.

Nonetheless, what attracted the most in the case of Toney more than his drops was the controversy surrounding his injury concerns. The player had not played since week 15 due to multiple injury concerns and personal reasons. However, one Instagram account associated with him claimed in a live program that the injury concerns were fake and accused the team of lying.

Things went so bad that Andy Reid, the head coach, came and confirmed that he was injured in real and the team was not lying. This certainly created a bad impression and the Chiefs would might want to get rid of him.
