“Seen TREMENDOUS progress from him”: NY Jets HC Robert Saleh claims Zach Wilson will SHOCK the league this year

For New York jets quarterback Zach Wilson, this will be quite the year. The sophomore quarterback will have to show that he is worthy of retaining his position and that in the distant future, he has what it takes to become the franchise player for the Jets organization. For Wilson, the biggest concern has been his ability to stay healthy, in the first preseason game of his second season, he had a knee injury that kept him out of the remainder of the practices. He is expected to come back and start in Week 1 of the regular season.

The New York Jets Head Coach Robert Saleh has left no stone unturned in hyping up Zach Wilson and telling Jets fans that this man is our future. He has heaped a lot of praise on him in the offseason and even in his latest press conference on Thursday. Saleh hopes that Wilson will be able to recover in time to start in week 1 but it is yet to be seen. For him, this season will be the year where Zach will show us that he was worthy of being picked 2nd overall in the draft.

“I’m really excited about how far he’s come”: Robert Saleh is all-in on Zach Wilson as his franchise quarterback.

The HC had this to say about his QB, “Before the injury, he was way ahead of where he was a year ago, I know that first preseason game, people put a lot of stock into those series, which is warranted , but that first preseason game isn’t even close to what he’s been showing throughout OTAs and training camp and the way he communicates even now that he’s not a part of the practices, and he’s just in meetings,” that is a very positive thing to hear, despite not being able to practice, Wilson is doing everything in his power to be with the team and try to get better in some form or the other.

“I’m really excited about him getting the chance to get back to the football field to show how far along he’s come. As far as the development and the course that he’s on, we’re excited about it, and we’re excited about his future,” Saleh concluded. We are yet to see the best of Wilson, the injuries are disappointing not only for the fans but for the HC as well who cannot wait for his star to surprise critics who have undermined Zach Wilson time and again.

Wilson has had quite the offseason, it was more off the field drama for him than on the field antics but he has reportedly been in the gym a lot as he has packed on some size to be able to take a beating. His return is still uncertain, it was initially ruled that he needed two weeks of practice following a surgery to recover. The Head Coach is in no hurry to bring back his quarterback, he has completely left that to the discretion of the medical staff and Wilson.

The New York Jets have made some decent moves this offseason, with this year’s draft class stacked with talent, a defense that has a shot at being one among the top 15 in the NFL, and cornerbacks, they have a chance to improve their losing record but it all depends on the output that the offense produces.
