Brandon Aiyuk is a pivotal member of the San Francisco 49ers frontline. The California native has progressed through leaps and bounds and established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet. However, that could soon change if his girlfriend, Rochelle Searight, is to be believed.

The 26-year-old fitness trainer and YouTube vlogger shared some shocking news on Monday through her TikTok. Searight teased that the Super Bowl LVIII was Aiyuk’s last appearance in 49ers red. While she did not mention Aiyuk’s name, the suddenness of the revelation is concerning.

This might have been the last time we touch foot at Levi’s Stadium [the 49ers stadium], me and Braylen [their son], because we might not be out here next season.

Perhaps she is unaware that her partner had a 5th-year extension. Otherwise, why would she say that it was their last visit to the Levi’s Stadium?

Can the 49ers trade away Brandon Aiyuk?

There are several players whose contacts are up before the 2024 season. Most notable are edge rusher Randy Gregory, Chase Young, quarterback Sam Darnold, and defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw. Whether Brandon Aiyuk joins them is still a massive question.

Searight’s words could come true if 49ers general manager John Lynch feels like it. The 2020 NFL draft’s 25th overall pick had his best outing in the 2023 season. He had 75 catches for 1342 receiving yards, 7 touchdowns, and the second-best yards per catch (17.9).

Under his rookie contract, Aiyuk earned $12.5 million annually, which increased to $14 million in 2024. That’s because the NFL Network reported back in April 2023 that the 49ers were picking up Aiyuk’s fifth-year option. Yet, in contrast, Deebo Samuel earns $24.5 million annually. Lynch could trade him away because Samuel isn’t going anywhere, and there’s also Ray-Ray McCloud waiting in the wings for an opportunity.

The only possible trade that could free up some cap space for the 49ers to keep the Arizona State graduate is the sale of Jauan Jennings, who is a restricted free agent. So the 49ers could take advantage by trading Jennings away for a second-rounder worth $4.63 million. The 26-year-old could have been the Super Bowl MVP if the Chiefs hadn’t won. Jennings contributed one passing touchdown and one receiving touchdown.

Furthermore, in November 2023, ESPN‘s Nick Wagoner said the 49ers’ stance on trading Aiyuk was “unlikely to change” during the offseason. It means that they are interested in keeping the playmaker in the Bay Area. However, they already gave lucrative deals to George Kittle and Nick Bosa and brought in running back Christian McCaffrey from Carolina.

On top of that, they lost the Super Bowl, which would have given them a significant cash boost. The loss limited their cap space to $3.7 million. Everything rests on the shoulders of Lynch. Who knows, perhaps Searight was on to something. Considering Aiyuk only had 3 catches for 49 yards in the Super Bowl, he may come into play for future negotiations.
